The Shift for Young People

The Shift is a 5-day immersive transformational experience where young people build confidence, leadership, collaboration, relational skills, and the kind of power awareness conventional systems rarely teach.

Young people are growing up in a time of uncertainty, disconnection, and rapid change.

They’re being asked to navigate pressure, conflict, and complex social dynamics — often without the tools or language to make sense of what they’re experiencing.

Meanwhile, conventional systems still tend to prioritize compliance, performance, and adaptation over authentic leadership, collaboration, emotional intelligence, and meaningful connection.

The Shift offers something different.

A space where young people can strengthen leadership, communication, trust, and community-building in more conscious, collaborative, and human ways.

Because the future won’t only need young people who know how to perform within broken systems. It will need young people who can think critically, navigate complexity, build trust, and help create something different.

A transformational experience for young people navigating an uncertain world

The Shift is not just a program.

It’s an invitation for young people to step into leadership, agency, and authentic community with greater confidence, clarity, and courage.

A space to explore new ways of relating, communicating, collaborating, and understanding power — within themselves, with others, and in the wider world.

By coming together in trust and community, young people strengthen their voice, deepen their leadership, and develop the relational tools needed not just to navigate the world as it is — but to help shape what comes next.

Through experiential learning, dialogue, reflection, conflict transformation, community-building, and real-time practice, participants strengthen:

- confidence and voice

- leadership and agency
- collaboration and trust-building
- power awareness and critical thinking
- belonging and authentic connection

This is not lecture-based learning.

It’s a lived experience of leadership, relationship, and community.

The Power of Community & Culture

One of the most transformative aspects of The Shift is the experience of authentic community.

Many young people move through systems that emphasize performance, competition, or fitting in — without ever experiencing what trust-based, collaborative community can truly feel like.

The Shift offers something different.

A space where young people can:

  • build meaningful connections

  • practice authentic communication

  • navigate conflict with support

  • experience trust, belonging, and collaboration

  • co-create a culture rooted in respect, agency, and shared humanity

Because leadership is not just about individual confidence.

It’s also about learning how to create healthy relationships and stronger communities together.

Who Holds the Space

The Shift for Young People is facilitated by Sari González, Chemay Morales-James, and Rebecka Koritz.

Together, they bring decades of experience working with young people across education, facilitation, youth-centered learning environments, leadership development, and transformational community spaces.

As creators of The Shift and leaders within Radical Learning, Sari and Rebecka have spent years challenging control-based systems and exploring more human, trust-based ways of learning, relating, and leading — work deeply rooted in youth rights, autonomy, consent, and authentic community.

Both have extensive experience working with young people through alternative education, facilitation, and community-building, including the creation and leadership of Explora, an Agile Learning Community grounded in autonomy, agency, and self-directed learning.

Chemay brings extensive experience in culturally responsive education, special education, facilitation, and equity-centered learning design, with a strong focus on meaningful dialogue, connection, and transformative learning.

Together, they create brave, relational spaces where young people can explore leadership, communication, collaboration, power, consent, and authentic community in ways that feel both deeply human and genuinely transformative.
