How to Sustain Ourselves While Changing the World

Many organizations working for justice, healing, and social change find themselves caught in a difficult paradox:

The work matters deeply and the need feels urgent.

And yet the very people carrying the work are often exhausted, overwhelmed, and running on fumes.

When urgency becomes the culture, burnout becomes inevitable—not because people aren't committed enough, but because human nervous systems were never designed to live in a constant state of activation.

This two-day immersive workshop is designed for teams who want to continue making meaningful impact without sacrificing their creativity, well-being,
or relationships along the way.

Through a blend of neuroscience, nervous system education, embodied practices, reflection, play, and collective inquiry, participants will explore how stress, urgency culture, and internalized systems shape both individual experience and organizational culture.

A workshop for organizations that care about staff

Together we will explore:

  • The science of stress, burnout, and nervous system regulation

  • How urgency culture impacts creativity, connection, and decision-making

  • The hidden systems and patterns we carry into our work

  • Tools of oppression and tools of liberation in everyday practice

  • Rest as a collective responsibility rather than an individual task

  • Practical practices that support resilience, co-regulation, and sustainable impact

  • How teams can create conditions where both people and purpose can thrive

A workshop by Radical Learning

Participants will leave with:

  • A deeper understanding of what is happening in their bodies and nervous systems

  • Practical tools for self-regulation and co-regulation

  • Greater awareness of organizational patterns that contribute to burnout

  • Shared language around sustainability and collective care

  • Renewed connection to purpose, creativity, and possibility

This is not a strategic planning retreat.

It is not a team-building exercise.

And it is not a quick fix.

It is an invitation to plant the seeds of a more sustainable way of working—one that supports both the mission and the humans carrying it.

Meet the Team

This workshop is facilitated by Rebecka Koritz, Chemay Morales-James and Sari González—three long-time collaborators, educators, and community builders who have spent years supporting people working at the intersection of justice, education, healing, and social change.

While each of us arrived at this work through different paths, we found ourselves asking the same question:

How do we continue creating meaningful change without sacrificing ourselves in the process?

We've experienced what it feels like to care deeply, carry too much, and discover that passion alone isn't enough to sustain meaningful work.

Our journeys have led us to a shared commitment: helping individuals and organizations build cultures where people no longer have to sacrifice themselves in order to make a difference.

Together, we bring decades of experience in facilitation, education, organizational culture, nervous system awareness, and community building—but more importantly, we bring lived experience, humility, and a deep belief that the people changing the world deserve ways of working that are just as life-giving as the futures they're trying to create.

“I expected a workshop on burnout. What I didn’t expect was how much it would change the way I think about leadership. Our team left with practical tools, but more importantly, we left with a shared understanding that burnout isn’t an individual “failure” - it’s something our culture either creates or protects against. We’ve already started having different conversations because of those two days.”
