OUR PROGRAM

We know that facilitation can be daunting and it takes skill and practice to be able to accompany youth in their self-directed journey without projecting our own fears and hang ups. It requires us to deschool ourselves and shed oxidized beleifs that inhibit us from showing up as authentic, aware beings, able to hold space for youth. Facilitation not only requires an understanding of Agile tools, but also embodies personal growth and co-learning & creation.

In this 12 month facilitation Support Program we share our experience, knowledge, knohow and expertise in order to support you to dive into sharpening your communication, conflict resolution and facilitation skills.

Some of the themes covered:

  • Agile tools for intentional culture creation
  • Fostering choice and autonomy of all people
  • Building equitable relationships
  • Boundary setting
  • Radical self-acceptance
  • Power of an apology
  • Conflict resolution
  • Working consent-based with kids

When facilitating a self-directed learning environment, the starting point is always the relationship between the facilitators and kids. The goal is to liberate ourselves from the oppressive patterns that show up in our facilitation and replace them with consent-based, trusting and authentic relationships with kids, where collaboration - not obedience - is the objective.

A healthy learning space can only exist when each individual member feels accepted and supported. That's why it's so important that we not only understand the importance of doing this work on an intellectual level, but also face our responsibility as adults and learn how to center relationship with kids.

We understand that this work is hard and know facilitators can use all the support we can get, and so we have created a Facilitation Support program that does just that.

WHAT YOU WILL GET OUT OF THIS WORK:
  • This is not about speed, this is about the process and doing deep work.
  • You will get out what you put in. In other words, the outcome will depend on your own efforts and commitment to the process.
  • Our hope is by the end of these sessions you will have shifted:
    • From confusion to more clarity in your role as a facilitator.
    • From insecurity to more confidence in your facilitation.
    • From control to more trust in your relationships with youth.

We provide support at the intersection of SDE facilitation, relationship & community building through various kinds of deschooling tools and resources for facilitators.
